| "The summer has started now and I was really happy about the first chance to get into the water. The water level of the Rhine was still very high, undoubted a result of the heavy rain of the last days. The stone barriers, which combine the individual islands, were completely flooded. It was an ideal situation, to make myself sure that there was no alternative than going on and getting some really wet feet." |

| "The deep water between the stone dam and the island was really too cold for myself. So I moved the barrier along and came to a small mud puddle, which was filled with a little bit water only. But this water had an enormous advantage: It was warm!" |
